Tuesday/Wednesday - Khan Academy practice - area of PSAT weakness. Semicolons and Modifiers - notes and practice on Google Classroom.

Thursday/Friday - Reading Strategies Chart in Google Classroom - choose 3 strategies that you will commit to using in second semester.

Next week are high school exams, for English 11

You may use your notebook and any papers on the exam

Exam will include

• 3 Reading passages - SAT type (SchoolNet)
• Grammar - modifiers, semicolons, hyphens/dashes (SchoolNet)
• Post-Unit survey Reading Strategies
• Speed reading test with reflection on 1st semester reading, a plan for 2nd semester, and a new genre to try.
• Updating Goodreads - currently reading book and a book you want to read in the new genre

Wednesday - Details in story; Setting sketch for novel.

Friday - Plot diagram and chapter by chapter summary for novel. Google Classroom: Receive plot summary and title document.

English 11 week of January 9

Monday - Goodreads reviews. All 4 reviews are due by Friday, January 13. Links to review must be submitted to Google Classroom.

Tuesday/Wednesday - Khan Academy practice - 30 minutes.Learning Target - chart visualizing. Langston Hughes poem - Democracy. Group discussion and poetry analysis chart. Homework - Google Classroom where have you used the reading strategies cover the answer and avoiding extremes?

Thursday/Friday - Final practice of reading strategies with SAT type reading tests. Group discussion - plans for preferred strategies. Self and Peer evaluation for Speaking and Listening - discussions in groups since November.

Finish up Comparison matrix for Declaration of Independence and Declaration of Sentiments; work on Khan Academy

Thursday/Friday - Poem by Walt Whitman - "For you o Democracy". Practice reading strategies - visualizing and skimming; poem analysis in Google classroom of tone, theme, human rights elements, and central idea.
