Tuesday/Wednesday - Informational Reading vocabulary. Universal Declaration of Human Rights preamble. Writing - How do we balance the tension between human rights and the common good? Learning Target - Reading Strategies.


Thursday/Friday - Poem analysis - Walt Whitman "For You O Democracy". Discussion - MLA format and intext citations. Identify music that explores human rights and society.

Creative Writing week of November 16

Monday - Character or Setting analysis from Bridge to Terabithia. 

Wednesday - In class writing. Written assignment on character or setting. Email assignment - article about character or setting read and take notes on information.

Friday - Written assignment wrap up. Group discussion. Independent work on Character or Setting procedure for improvement.

Monday – Post test. Homework: Compose a message to me in your Goodreads account from your inbox. Copy and paste or include a link to a book review that you have completed.
 If you haven’t completed a book yet I want to know what page you are on out of how many pages and when do you anticipate completing the book.


Tuesday-Friday – We will be viewing The Patriot during class. If parents/guardians DO NOT wish to have their student view this movie due to its R rating, simply email me and I will give the student an alternate assignment.

English 11 week of November 2

Monday – Grammar assessment. Final project – Reading Strategies expectation – due Thursday/Friday

Three ways to fill in the chart:
1. Create an example and take a picture to put in your chart.
2. Find an example online and paste image into your chart - make sure to include the URL.
3. Write an example and put it in the chart.

EXAMPLES MUST BE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL - NOT GEARED TOWARD ELEMENTARY

You must include 3-5 different Reading Strategies in your chart.

Monday – Short story unit reflection via email. Sample Rabbit, Run – identify character or setting and discussion.

Wednesday – In class – writing for character practice. Sparknotes – what are the important elements of character or setting? Identify those elements in your short story. Reflection – what did you do well and what did you lack for character or setting.


Friday – In class – writing for setting practice. Activity – Character or Setting. Work independently on Character or Setting improvement – status report emailed to Luttke
