Monday - Project introduction: Letter to my younger self. Expectations and rubric located on Schoology. Homework: Notes on Adjectives vs Adverbs slideshow.

Tuesday/Wednesday - Reading Strategy notes on Context Clues. Practice reading test - use strategies and self-assess.

Thursday/Friday - Khan Academy - 30 minutes during class. Project work time - Letter to my younger self. Language group work - Adjectives vs Adverbs.  Language groups - self and peer assessment for Speaking and Listening learning goal of discussions in groups.  

Creative Writing week of November 27

Monday - wrap up a cover letter and submit the story to outside source.

Monday - Notes on Reading Strategies: Cover the Answer and Slowing Down. (6th and 8th hour also need Seven Strategies for Highly Effective Readers). Discuss - How could you use these and other strategies in other class - Create a list in your notebook. (6th and 8th also discuss and write about what strategies would have helped on the Reading pre-test). Language group work - Dangling Modifiers - introduce Speaking and Listening learning goal.

Tuesday - Hollis book talk on Stephen King's On Writing. Submit final draft in Schoology. Create draft of cover letter to submit with submission.

Monday - Pronoun practice; Homework: Dangling Modifier slideshow.

Tuesday/Friday - Notes on visualization and practice with reading book; Reading assessed- Declaration of Independence.

Wednesday/Thursday - Notes on Reading strategies - 7 strategies for highly effective readers. Language groups - Dangling Modifiers; Revise reading pre-test - reflect what strategies so far would have helped the most.

English 11 week of November 6

Monday - Goodreads book review due from a book read in September-October. Submit link to discussion on Schoology in Goodreads folder. Create a Marking Period 2 goal for reading books (must be 1 more than what you read this MP!), write it on your goal sheet in your single subject notebook AND provide it to Luttke for her list. BRING A TEXTBOOK WITH YOU TO NEXT CLASS. Homework: Take notes on Pronoun Case slideshow in Language Group Work folder on Schoology

Tuesday/Wednesday - Reading Strategy notes on Text Patterns. Look at textbook - look at pleasure reading book - look at Declaration of Independence and identify the patterns. How will this help you?

Reread Declaration of Independence - answer reflective question: How do we balance the tension between individual rights and the common good of all the people? Language group work time - Pronoun Case discussion.

Thursday/Friday - Half Days!

1st hour - Reading pre-test

Extra practice on passage mapping and text patterns.
