Technical Writing Film Analysis 3rd marking period


Students have proven themselves proficient in technical writings areas of documents. Now they will work on essays:

Assignments for the 9 weeks are as follows:

 Weekly Viewing Journal – due every Monday. (Worth 5 points)
Due dates: February 10, 17, 24 March 3, 17

You are required to view a movie per week of choice from the list of Top 10 movies by the American Film Institute. Please limit yourself to 2 movies per genre!

Include as a heading:

Title of movie
Director of movie
Producer of movie
Date movie was made
Two major actors in the movie (first and last name)

You are then required to submit a viewing journal where you identify 2 questions per section from the information above on “how to read a movie” to take notes (notes should be detailed enough to get your point across, but are not required to be in complete sentences and will not be graded on grammar.)

Bi weekly Response paper – due on Thursday. (Worth 10 points)
Due dates: February 13, 27, March 20

From your notes, either about a personal choice movie or one we watched in class, you are to write a 500 word essay exploring an element(s) of one of the movie you have viewed. I expect a works cited page in APA style for the movie and any other sources that you use. Include as the last sentence of the introduction a thesis for focusing you essay.

Final paper  (Worth 20 points)
Due date: March 26

From your notes, about a movie we watched in class, you are to write a 1000 word essay exploring elements of one of the movie you have viewed. I expect for you to draw on other sources (at least two), and I expect a works cited page in APA style. Include as the last sentence of the introduction a thesis for focusing you essay.
