Use Steinbeck and Whitman for the remainder of the essay after the first time you reference them by the first and last name. Beyond introduction you should only use their last names.

"Leader of the People" and "Song of Myself" in quotation marks and written out each time during the ENTIRE essay.
Transitions
EVERY paragraph starts with transition except introduction.

Avoid
casual language usage such as gonna, many, thing, and any contractions (don’t)

Remember to explain every example from the story or poem. You must include why you used it as an example and how it's relevant to your essay.
